I love how my neighborhood in Oakland, Temescal, is filled with a residency of unique/ diverse people, an abundance of beautiful art, an array of amazing coffee/coffee shops to choose from, and is dubbed as the “New Gourmet Ghetto”.
Every first Friday of the month, is the Oakland Art Murmur/Art Walk. Member galleries are open to the public from 6-9 pm. 23rd Street between Telegraph and Valley is blocked off and lined along the street are art, craft and food vendors.
If you miss the 1st Friday, don’t fret because there are also Saturday Strolls, too!
The Art Murmur takes place in Uptown Oakland, as well! Uptown is a 2-3 minute drive along Telegraph Ave, from Temescal. And, for those without a set of wheels, it’s a 1-min/1-train stop away!
I will be out checking out the scene, in both Temescal & Uptown, this Friday (4/6/12) Saturday (4/7/12). If you would like to indulge and immerse yourself in lovely, local, Oaklandish art, I suggest that you get your ass out there too!
